The Black Madeira fig the pristine collectors fig. Arriving in Australia many years ago, it is a dark fig with a dark red interior. From speaking to fellow enthusiasts, the species has been identified as landing in Western Australia and Victoria in the 60's and 70s. These cuttings originate from a tree in WA but I recently got my hands on a small tree said to be directly brought from the Madeira Island by an immigrant himself

As the name implies, this fig originates from the Madeira Island in Portugal and no doubt they knew it should be shared with the rest of the world.

It is a robust grower with a good abundance of fruit. Not many figs have this supreme taste and texture. This fig is not found in your local nursery - It will be a fine addition to anyone's garden. I only produce a handful of these each year and its price reflects rarity. They are often all pre sold so If you have missed out - put your name down for next season.
